There are 4,644 proposals that meet the criteria, 815 unique teacher names, and 126 public schools in Tirana involved within 14 days. These figures demonstrate not only the success of the first phase of applications for the inaugural edition of the “Mirash Ivanaj – Teacher of the Year” Award, but above all the extraordinary trust that students, parents, and the educational community of Tirana have shown toward this recognition. The “Teacher of the Year” Award aims to become a national tradition, a moment of reflection and appreciation for those who build the future every day in the classroom.
In just two weeks, thousands of students, parents, colleagues, and school principals became part of a transparent and inclusive process, nominating teachers who have left a lasting mark on their lives. The 815 unique names from 126 public schools in the capital clearly demonstrate the need to bring the figure of the teacher back to the center of public attention as a leader of knowledge, a builder of character, and a model of citizenship.
This award has been conceived in alignment with the educational vision of Mirash Ivanaj, author of the 1935 Educational Reform, which laid the foundations of basic education in Albania. He believed that the quality of education is the foundation of a strong and enlightened nation. The “Teacher of the Year” Award represents a modern continuation of this vision: an initiative that places merit above any other consideration and affirms education as the safest investment in the future.
The nomination phase was conducted through an open online platform, ensuring equal access for everyone. Every proposal that met the formal criteria was registered and included in the process. The first phase was a success beyond expectations. But this is only the beginning.
In accordance with transparency standards, every step of the process will be communicated publicly. The public voting phase for the finalist teachers will take place from February 16–20, 2026, the days when YOU are invited to return to this page to select the top three finalists from among the teachers!
