The M. & M. Ivanaj Foundation Institut has announced the call for nominations for the “Mirash Ivanaj – Teacher of the Year” Award, pilot edition 2026, which applies to public schools in the city of Tirana.

The call is open from 26 January to 8 February 2026 and aims to identify teachers who have demonstrated dedication, professionalism, and a lasting impact on students’ education. Within the framework of this initiative, the award also recognizes long-term contributions to pre-university education through a special category for retired teachers who have left a meaningful legacy in shaping generations.

Nominations are submitted through a digital form and are subject to a structured evaluation process. The most-nominated candidates advance to the second phase, which includes online public voting and parallel evaluation by an independent jury, in accordance with the principles of transparency, meritocracy, and institutional accountability.

Selection Criteria

To be considered valid, a candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • have at least 5 years of teaching experience;
  • currently practice or have practiced the profession in the city of Tirana, within the public education system;
  • have no disciplinary measures;
  • have no criminal record;
  • enjoy a strong professional and ethical reputation;
  • be recognized for pedagogical impact, dedication, and contribution to the community.

    Administrative and qualitative review of nominations, data verification, and selection of finalist candidates.
  • 16 February 2026
    Public announcement of finalists by respective categories.

    Online public voting for finalist candidates.
  • 21 – 22 February 2026
    Evaluation by the Independent Jury, which interviews the three most-voted candidates by the public to determine the final ranking (1st–3rd place).
  • 8 March 2026
    Public announcement of the winners.
  • 13 March 2026
    Institutional recognition ceremony
    A festive and ceremonial event for all candidates, held at the premises of the M. & M. Ivanaj Foundation Institut.
