March 7th is a significant date in the history of Albanian education, as it marks the opening of the First Albanian School in Korça in 1887. This historic event was a turning point for education in the Albanian language, laying the foundations for a national educational system. For this reason, this date is now celebrated as Teacher’s Day, honoring the dedication of those who illuminate the path of knowledge for future generations.

In this context, we must also acknowledge the contributions of Mirash Ivanaj, one of the most influential figures in Albanian education in the 20th century. As Minister of Education, he worked tirelessly to establish a high-quality, independent education system based on national values. His reforms brought high academic standards and a vision that education should be the cornerstone of a developed and strong society.

Today, his legacy and that of the Ivanaj family continue through The Ivanaj Foundations, which are committed to supporting education, professional development, and innovation among young people in Albania. In alignment with Mirash Ivanaj’s vision, the Foundations continue to empower the younger generations by providing knowledge, experience, and ongoing support for building a brighter future.

On Teacher’s Day, we express our gratitude to all those who share knowledge and shape future generations. Let us be inspired by the history, hard work, and dedication of those who have contributed and continue to contribute to education, striving to leave a positive impact for the future.
Happy March 7th!
