December is a month of celebration and joy! Thousands of kids all over the world sadly do not have their presents under the Christmas tree to bring smiles and joy. This is what inspires us to organize a Holiday Drive each year.

For our 5th edition of the annual Holiday Drive, we achieved a new milestone and collaborated with two schools in Tirana: (AIS) Albanian International School and “Dertliu” High School. After brainstorming with everyone involved, we decided to dedicate this year event to the children at the pediatric (thalassemic and surgery) departments of the University Hospital Center "Mother Teresa" (QSUNT).

The above schools organized their own campaigns to gather toys and books, activities that very successfully collected a large amount of these items. They were accumulated in large boxes that we furnished, picked up, stored, and sorted later, inside our premises. Members of our volunteer group carefully wrapped and embellished the whole lot with attention to details, adding personalized handwritten cards with messages for each kid and parent. We’re extremely grateful for all their time and dedication to make this project achievable.

With the distribution of a total of 50 gifts at the pediatric wards, our staff and volunteers also offered entertainment with a delightful and unique robotics show. The androids were dressed as Santa and Elves and were programmed to interact, socialize, but also sing along Christmas carols with the kids.

Although the weather was cloudy and humid, the delivery worked out smoothly, and we managed to complete our mission successfully. Santa’s work was done on time!

Very specific thanks go to our collaborators (that also supplied transport), the volunteers, our staff members, the social workers, nurses, hospital supervisors, and last, but not least, a big one is due to our own staff member that successfully orchestrated this entire activity. Kudos to Blerta and cheers!
