In the midst of all the activities that have taken place in our premises this month this was also our 3rd season for our annual Gift Drive that we have just concluded on Friday in a special place by providing some cheers and gifts where needed by children during this yearend holidays.

While we previously gave toys and presents to students within a school chosen by referral, but where these supplies were seriously needed, this year we decided to do this within a new venue: the pediatric wards of Tirana’s Hospital.

This choice was made because we learned that, notwithstanding the pouring of all sorts of supplies and money, collected nationally and from broad in response to the recent disasters caused  by two massive earthquakes in Albania (in September and November), many of the children hospitalized for trauma, accidents, and infectious diseases that include also orphans, were kind of forgotten as being in need of particular attention.

Our staff and volunteer force got into action in buying all sorts of gift for which I provided funds, lovingly wrapped them, and we delivered them, as directed by the hospital staff to 40 children (from few months to 9 years of age).

Our IT staff came armed with robotic equipment and invited the kids to operate it, the animators we hired (Santa Klaus & Fairy Queen) provided music, balloons and entertainment, and RTSH TV that got wind of what we were planning, was also in tow and ended up requesting interviews.

While the gloomy and rainy weather outside dominated the chaotic traffic everywhere in town, and the areas used inside the hospital were a bit crowded to maneuver in, our activities took place inside a warm and caring atmosphere, producing worthwhile experiences for all involved.

Thanks to the entire Staff and the Volunteers that joined us in carrying out this drive, the result of which was not virtual, but real smiley faces that said it all!
